Epoch IV livery. Requires a minimum of Radius I curved track (600mm diameter). Overall length 817mm. The n-car also known as the Silberling was the typical DB passenger car, although it was often seen in express trains or in interzone trains. This car owes the name "Silberling" to its railcar body made of brushed stainless steel with a "Pfauenaugen" pattern. Over 5,000 units were built between 1958 and 1980, and they are still used by DB-Regio today. A Silberling is 26.4 metres long and is separated into three compartments by two boarding areas with double doors. Today, after several conversions, most of the series officially known as the n-railcar are painted red/light grey according to the DB-Regio colour scheme. Their numbers continue to decrease due to the railway reform of 1994, in which modern engines and air-conditioned railcars are being purchased.
