In the grand tradition of the 36 Tonner, the 1997 model that began our love affair with geared locomotive models, we're excited to offer the Narrow Gauge 38Ton, Two-Truck Shay. The 38 Ton Shay is modelled after Ely-Thomas ~6 which operates today on the New Jersey Museum of Transportation's Pine Creek railroad in Allaire state park. Like our previously offered 36Ton shay, the 38 Tonner is equipped with the cutting-edge technology and details that make Spectrum locomotives so successful.
Features include: DCC Ready, die-cast power blocks, all-wheel drive, oil or coal fule bunker per roadname, steel cab with detailed interior, numerous separate detail parts, operating headlight and backup light, operating smoke unit, three position polarity switch for conformance to NMRA standards or large scale model railroading practices, and a centre on/off position.
This locomotive performs best on curves with a minimum 8' diameter.
