Industrial railroads often operate in harsh conditions, requiring specialised equipmant to haul cargo from the field. During the steam era, Heisler Locomotive Works of Erie, Pennsylvania answered the call with geared locomotives that could easily navigate the challenging grades and curves that were part of everyday life for logging and mining operations. Heisler's unique designs provided incredible power and stability without a significant loss of speed, a combination that allowed the weighty locomotives to operate at a top speed nearly twice that of their competitirs. Based on a 1920's stock model from the Heisler Catalogue, we're pleased to include this Two-Truck Heisler as part of our Spectrum logging and mining series.
