Aristocraft PACIFIC 4-6-2

Aristo-Craft introduces the upgraded 4-6-2 Pacific Locomotive.  The entire drive system of the Pacific has been replaced with a drive based on our highly successful patented modular gearbox system introduced in  the SD-45.  The new drive features a single large can motor with a built in cooling fan, three patented ball bearing equipped gearboxes and two flywheels.

The new Pacific's six drivers are driven by the gearboxes, not by the drive rods like most model steam locomotives. In the model world, drive rods typically do not efficiently transmit power to the drive wheels. The drive rods are delicate and break easily. This results in low pulling power and poor performance of most steam locomotives. Gearbox driven motor blocks provide better pulling power and more reliable performance. With the new Pacific, the drive rod are along for the ride.

The new Pacific comes with a plug and play DCC/RCC ready PC board with its own burnout protection and is battery ready.  DCC & RCC control boards easily plug into the 12 pin plug built in to the PC board.  The PC board has a thermal switch that will automatically shut the locomotive off in the event of over heating or electrical short.  This feature will protect the locomotive's electronics and motor from burning out.  Also included are plugs for plugging into a trailing battery car for battery operations.

Depending on road name and prototype practices, the new Pacific will be accompanied by ether a Long Tender (formerly called Pacific Tender) or a Vanderbilt Tender.  The tenders will be sound ready with a built in speaker.  They will also have "pass through" wiring for locomotive battery operations and power plugs for receiving electrical power from the locomotive.

PROTOTYPE HISTORY
The Pacific 4-6-2 Steam Locomotive is an accurate representation of Pacific-type Steam Locomotives built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works (Philadelphia, PA) in 1927 as the B&O/ Baltimore & Ohio Railroad’s ‘President’ Class 4-6-2 Steam Locomotives.
